Our Enrichment Room

Little Seedlings Academy is proud to offer a room that is tailored towards helping each individual student have success! Ms. Opal will be serving as our Enrichment Coordinator and will work closely with our classroom teachers to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our students! This room will have three main purposes and will also serve as a designated space for formal assessments, local school district's Parents As Teachers evaluations, and therapies if needed. See below to learn more about what the three main day to day functions of this exciting addition to our school will be!

Enrichment

All learners master knowledge at a different pace. For students who need continual challenges to keep them engaged, our enrichment room will serve as a space where they can be provided more challenging activities and sometimes project based work according to their interests. Ms. Opal will work closely with the classroom teachers to identify who needs enrichment and in what subject matter it is necessary. Together the classroom teacher and Ms. Opal will identify the learner's interests and she will take this information and create engaging activities to challenge the student in mind. These lessons will be implemented inside of our enrichment room at a time where the student will not miss direct instruction or necessary learning centers.

Remediation

Children are learning a lot during their preschool experience and sometimes it can take a child a little bit longer to master or progress in certain concepts that are being taught in the classroom. To assist students who require additional support to understand subject matter we will offer remediation in the enrichment room. Just like the enrichment activities listed above, Ms. Opal will work closely with classroom teachers to identify individual students' interests and areas needing support to create lessons that will provide opportunities for growth. These may be conducted in a one-on-one or small group setting.

Self Regulation

Sometimes preschool classrooms can be overwhelming for young learners. There are many people in the room which can create an environment with many visual and auditory distractions. Additionally, students are being asked to challenge themselves to learn new content, routines, and social behaviors. Occasionally, this can lead to outbursts or big emotions. To help our students work through those moments we have created a space in the enrichment room that is specifically designed for helping students regulate their emotions in a quiet and safe environment. This space will help our learners work through their emotions with the help of a teacher without onlookers. This gives them the opportunity to learn strategies to help them cope when similar events happen in the future. Helping students build their self-regulation tool box privately will help them utilize these tools in the classroom with their peers!
